Calls to halt Home Insulation program are unsupported by industry
Calls to close the Home Insulation program by individuals representing a minor section of the industry are not representative of the views of the wider industry,” according to Danny Morgan Managing Director of Enact Energy one of Australia’s largest energy efficiency companies.
“We reject these calls completely. Penalising the entire industry would not solve the problems created by a minority of installers who have not followed the rules,” Mr Morgan said.
The Government’s audit process has shown that most installations have been conducted according to the Standards.
Mr. Morgan said that reputable companies provide lifetime warranties on their products and installations, with follow-up support if necessary.
“As a company, having fitted hundreds of homes with insulation and solar hot water systems across the country, we have invested heavily in providing quality products and service; and we have engaged a large skilled workforce to meet demand.
“Through our business alone, closing the program would throw hundreds of Australian’s out of work.
“The issues of concern are well known across the country and we have found that consumers are now looking for reassurances and warranties from installers.
“The improved standards and training requirements are now in place are now appropriate.
“We believe further education is required to reinforce the need for consumers to ensure their installers provide written lifetime warranties on their products and installations, and follow-up service if there is an issue,” Mr. Morgan said.
